During recent operations in Sabha and Gatron, the Libyan military authorities made significant seizures of narcotics and alcohol, with 5,000 tablets, including Tramadol and Erica.
As part of ongoing efforts to eliminate organised crime, the Libyan Joint Security Committee successfully conducted operations in the southern cities of Sabha and Gatron, resulting in significant seizures of narcotics and alcohol, according to a statement by the Libyan army’s 87th Brigade.
These operations, carried out on the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and under the supervision of the Chief of Staff,
Saddam Khalifa Haftar, were led by General Jamal Al-Amami in coordination with the prosecutor.
“Our operations resulted in the seizure of 5,000 narcotics tablets, including Tramadol and Erica, as well as significant quantities of imported alcoholic beverages, including Lucy brand whisky,” a
spokesman for the 87th Brigade said on Thursday, February 27.
According to the military authorities in eastern Libya, these operations are the result of meticulous investigations that also led to the arrest of those involved in the smuggling and distribution of
the illicit substances.
Judicial proceedings have been initiated against them.
The Joint Security Committee reaffirmed its determination to continue its operations to combat lawlessness, fight smuggling and traffickingof drugs and alcohol, with the aim of ensuring security and stability in southern Libya and throughout the national territory.
