Parts of Mozambique were shaken on Tuesday night by a moderate earthquake that measured 4.4 on the Richter scale hit, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
Information released by the USGS on Wednesday showed that the tremor occurred around 9.34pm (1934 GMT) and was felt in areas such as Nampula and Nacala.
The epicentre of the earthquake was in the Mozambique Channel, the USGS said.
Mozambique is prone to earthquakes, with most of them occurring along fissures that stretch from the East African Rift Valley.
The largest such tremor occurred in the mid-2000s and was felt as far as Zimbabwe and Botswana.
