The former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has congratulated Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, for her election as the next Secretary General of the Commonwealth.
Mahama said through his social media post that the foreign minister would help make the world a better place with her new portfolio.
According to the former President, what is fascinating is the fact that another woman is occupying the position.
“Congratulations Shirley Ayorkor Botchway on your election as Secretary General of the Commonwealth.
“You will be joining a special group of diplomats to help make the Commonwealth and the world a better place.
“I am particularly excited that after Patricia Scotland, we have another distinguished female at the head of the Commonwealth.
“Make Ghana and Africa proud with your leadership of the 56-member Organisation,” Mahama said in his post.
