During the meeting, Mr. Kolding reaffirmed EUCAP-Sahel-Mali’s commitment to supporting Mali’s efforts to achieve its security objectives. Additionally, Kolding announced the upcoming arrival of a European Union delegation for an evaluation mission.
Minister Mohammedine expressed his gratitude for EUCAP-Sahel-Mali’s contributions and emphasized the importance of community policing in strengthening security efforts. He also called for a renewal and expansion of the EUCAP-Sahel-Mali mandate, recognizing its strategic value in supporting Mali’s security forces.
EUCAP-Sahel-Mali is a European Union civilian mission supporting security sector reform and governance in Mali. It was launched in 2015 and has been instrumental in providing assistance to the Malian government. However, Mali’s recent shift towards closer ties with Russia has led to a reevaluation of its cooperation with Western partners, including EUCAP-Sahel-Mali.
