After being absent for more than three months due to health reasons, Choguel Kokalla Maiga has returned to work as Mali’s prime minister.
On Sunday 4 December, the President of the Malian transition, Colonel Assimi Goita, repealed the decree appointing Colonel Abdoulaye Maïga as interim prime minister.
This decision comes a few days after the audience granted by the Malian head of state to Choguel Kokalla Maïga, holder of the post since the May 2021 coup, at the Koulouba Palace in Bamako.
During the meeting, the prime minister assured Colonel Assimi Goita that he would be able to resume work after being forced to rest for three months following a stroke.
As for Colonel Abdoulaye Maïga, he is gaining in stature.
He was appointed Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation.
According to the decree read out on national television, he is the interim prime minister in case of absence, impediment or vacancy.
