Local staff at the Malian embassy in Washington DC began a 48-hour strike on February 24th, protesting what they describe as “abuse of power, intimidation, and unfair dismissals” by the ambassador.
The strike aims to bring the attention of Malian authorities to the “oppressive” working conditions within the embassy.
The striking employees allege a pattern of abusive managerial practices, including unjustified dismissals and constant pressure. They are calling on the Malian government to intervene swiftly to create a respectful work environment that adheres to international standards.
Despite the serious nature of the accusations, there has been no official response from the Malian government. The Malian embassy in Washington has also not released any statement regarding the situation on its official website.
