Manchester United’s Ivorian star Amad Diallo this weekend confirmed through Instagram that he has picked up an injury that rules him out of the squad for a couple of weeks.
Diallo expressed heartbreak after sustaining an ankle ligament damage in training and initial reports suggest he could miss the rest of the season for United who have relied on his industry and work rate during a difficult season.
“Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for”, he wrote on Instagram.
The 22-year-old Ivorian has been one of the few bright sparks for United who had endured a torrid season since Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim took charge of the Red Devils in October.
Diallo who was purchased from Atalanta in 2021, has six goals to his name in 14 games under Amorim including the winner against cross town rival Manchester City and a comeback hattrick against bottom placed Southampton.
The Ivorian who penned a new contract with the Red Devils last month, also has six assists to his credit in 22 appearances all season.
Amorim is also contending with other injuries to members of his squad including midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, 19.
