The 6th Russia-Arab World Cooperation Forum opened in Marrakech on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and in the presence of several foreign ministers of the participating countries.
The meeting brings together high-level personalities, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Houssam Zaki and ministerial delegations from participating Arab states.
The choice of Morocco as the host of this edition was decided at the previous forum, which took place in Moscow in April 2019.
The meeting will be held in an extended troika format, comprising the Secretary General of the Arab League, the three members of the Arab ministerial troika and the chair of the Arab Summit.
In line with current practice, this year’s forum will examine issues of cooperation between Russia and the Arab world.
Over the years, the Forum has grown in importance as a platform for exchanging and coordinating positions on regional and international issues.
It takes into account the common interests and priorities of the Arab and Russian sides in the political, economic and trade fields.
