The Jardin Majorelle Foundation in charge of the event, expresses its delight at the centenary, promising a celebration marked by revelry and cultural events that will delight Marrakech residents, as well as visitors from home and abroad, according to a press release.
In 1924, the famous French painter Jacques Majorelle acquired a plot of land on the edge of Marrakech’s Palmeraie, where he built a villa and planted a garden. In 1947, Mr. Majorelle opened his garden to the public, according to information provided by the Foundation.
In 1980, the late Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent became owners of this emblematic garden, while ensuring that it remained accessible to the general public, the same source added.
Since its opening, the Jardin Majorelle has established itself as one of Morocco’s most popular destinations. Every year, over 900,000 visitors enjoy a unique experience in the heart of this memorable garden, which also houses two emblematic museums: the Musée Pierre Bergé des Arts Berbères and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech.
