“We strongly condemn the barbaric terrorist attack that targeted two mosques in the city of Christchurch in New Zealand and which killed 49 and injured 20 others among the faithful praying” the statement by the Mauritanian Foreign Affairs ministry said.
At least 49 people were killed and 20 wounded on Friday, according to an official report.
“This barbaric attack once again shows how dangerous the world has become and how threatened the security and peace we’re enjoying is following hate speech and discrimination fed by racist prejudices and extremist propaganda,” the statement pointed out.
He stressed “the need for the world to stand up together as one against hatred and racism and protect international peace and security in order to preserve human values that underlie the peaceful coexistence of human beings.”
The Mauritanian government also offered its “sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and government of New Zealand.”
