Mauritania has reestablished diplomatic ties with Qatar, four years after relations with the Gulf state were severed, APA can report on Monday.
According to a tweet by the Qatar News Agency on Monday, the Gulf state’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs had held talks with the Mauritanian Foreign Affairs Minister during which bilateral cooperation relations were reviewed.
Both parties later agreed for the restoration of full diplomatic ties “between the two brotherly countries”.
Nouakchott cut ties with Qatar in 2017, after the Gulf country was accused of aiding and abetting terrorism.
The North African country had followed fellow Arab nations like Egypt and Saudi Arabia which had blacklisted Qatar as a country supporting the activities of terrorists.
Qatar had denied the allegation.
