Mauritania’s president Mohamed Ould Ghazouani has dismissed the Managing Director of the National Industrial and Mining Company (SNIM), Hassenna Ould Ely, APA learnt Friday from the company in Nouadhibou.
Appointed to this position only 9 months ago, Ould Ely was replaced by the former Minister of Economy and Finance, Moctar Ould Diay.
The latter was approved in this position during a meeting of the company’s board of directors held on Thursday in Nouakchott.
SNIM, which produces between 12 and 13 million tonnes of iron ore annually, is considered the largest company in Mauritania.
It directly employs about 6,000 people, contributes 25 to 30 percent of the state budget and remains the main provider of foreign exchange for the country.
