The bodies of 15 migrants have washed up on the shores of a Tunisian beach, according to the country’s coastguards.
The Tunisian authorities said the bodies have been decomposing when they were discovered on the beach of the coastal town of Mahdia.
They said the bodies are in the process of being identified.
Many of them are thought to have been sub-Saharan Africans who have been using rickety boats in the Mediterranean in desperate bids to reach Europe.
Thousands have died risking their lives in the treacherous waters of the sea separating mainland Africa and Europe.
They usually come from West African countries such as The Gambia, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
