Niger has over 350,000 internally displaced people, and 94,000 Nigerien refugees are in neighboring countries, primarily Mali.
UNHCR is urging the international community to maintain aid during instability to prevent the situation from worsening, collaborate among humanitarian, development, and peace organizations, and allocate more funding to local organizations for a more effective response.
