President Emmerson Mnangagwa has dismissed Zimbabwe’s State Security Minister Owen Ncube over alleged misconduct, the president’s office announced on Monday.
In a statement, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda said Ncube had been removed from the “office of cabinet minister and minister of government with immediate effect for conduct inappropriate for a minister of government.”
He did not give a specific reason why the minister was relieved of his duties.
Ncube, who until now was considered as one of Mnangagwa’s trusted lieutenants, oversaw the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation, which has been accused over the years of abductions and torture of government critics.
