“The Senegalese people have entrusted you with presiding over the destiny of your nation by electing you, in the first round, to the Presidency of the Republic of Senegal. I congratulate you and wish you every success in the exercise of your high office,” writes the King of Morocco in a message to Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the new President of
the Republic of Senegal who was elected on Sunday 24 March.
“Our two peoples form a community of values and destiny based on the solid cultural and spiritual tradition that is a constant in the relations between our two countries,” the King went on, recalling his esteem for “the historic depth of the unshakeable bonds of brotherhood, solidarity and high regard that unite us.”
For Mohammed VI, “the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal constitute a model of fruitful, close and multidimensional cooperation.”
King Mohammed VI assured the new Senegalese Head of State of his desire to work with him “to diversify and strengthen our promising strategic partnership, in the service of our two youths and in favour of a united and prosperous Africa.”
The King of Morocco, who recalled that the “special relationship between Morocco and Senegal is a precious heritage that our two countries have always honoured,” assured Macky Sall’s successor that he could “count on the Kingdom’s loyal willingness to cooperate in extending and consolidating” this “special relationship” between the two countries.
