This cell was planning a series of dangerous terrorist projects in Morocco.
The Moroccan security forces, on Thursday, dismantled a terrorist cell composed of three elements supporters of the Islamic State organization (IS), for their alleged involvement in the mooting of terrorist plans aimed at seriously undermining public order.
According to a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), security elements have conducted intervention and arrest procedures in separate and simultaneous operations, having
targeted the three suspects in Souk El Arbaa of Gharb, Tetouan and Larache (North).
The searches conducted in the homes of those arrested have allowed the seizure of knives, a number of manuscripts inciting violence, as well as written publications tracing the terrorist activities of groups
under the “IS” in the Sahel region, in addition to materials and digital media that will be submitted to the necessary technical expertise.
Preliminary information from the investigation reveals that the defendants, who have made “allegiance” to the organization of the IS, were planning the execution of a series of dangerous terrorist projects. To this end, they prepared several digital contents related to their terrorist plans.
The research and investigations also revealed that the arrested suspects intended to flee Morocco to join the camps of the IS in the Sahel region, after carrying out their terrorist plans, in coordination and with the help of one of the elements affiliated to this terrorist organization.
The members of this terrorist cell were taken into custody for the purposes of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases.
