Morocco and the Central African Republic have agreed to strengthen cooperation between their two military institutions.
to this end, Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, met on Monday in Rabat with Army General Zéphirin Mamadou, Chief of Staff of the CAR armed forces.
General Mamadou, who is visiting Morocco from January 17 to 23, is accompanied by a large military delegation.
According to a statement from the FAR General Staff, the two officials discussed various aspects of bilateral military cooperation, including training and exchange visits.
They also welcomed the strong ties of cooperation between the Royal Armed Forces and the Central African Armed Forces, according to a statement from the FAR General Staff.
On this occasion, the Chief of Staff of the Central African Armed Forces expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan king for the support provided to the Central African Armed Forces and praised the action of the Moroccan contingent within the framework of the stabilisation mission and its decisive role within MINUSCA.
Since 2014, the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) have been participating in peacekeeping in the Central African Republic, within MINUSCA, with a contingent of 750 soldiers.
On the day of this visit, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of the Administration of National Defense, Abdeltif Loudyi, received at the headquarters of this administration, General Zéphirin Mamadou.
During the talks, the two officials expressed their satisfaction with the dynamics of the relations and cooperation between Morocco and the CAR and assessed prospects for extending them to other areas of common interest.
Morocco and the Central African Republic have signed several accords covering various spheres with a view to developing fruitful collaboration in line with mutual aspirations and common interests.
