Morocco and Ethiopia maintain diplomatic relations characterised by economic cooperation, political support and cultural exchanges. Both countries have a long tradition of involvement in African political affairs and have supported each other’s positions on regional issues.
Economic relations between the two countries have developed significantly in recent years.
In November 2016, King Mohammed VI visited Ethiopia, marking an important step in the strengthening of bilateral relations. During this visit, Morocco signed an agreement with the Ethiopian government for the construction of a large-scale fertiliser plant. Valued at around $3.7 billion, the project aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s agricultural sector.
Rooted in a rich and deep history, bilateral relations between Morocco and Ethiopia, which have been revitalised since the historic visit of King Mohammed VI to Addis Ababa in 2016, are evolving into a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the common objectives of the two countries while actively contributing to the development and stability of the African continent.
