The Moroccan airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and El Al Israel Airlines signed, on Monday in Tel Aviv, a code-share agreement, on the sidelines of the Casablanca and Tel Aviv inaugural flight ceremony.
The signing was presided over by the Chairman and CEO of the Moroccan company, Abdelhamid Addou and the Executive Director of the Israeli company, Avigal Soreq.
The codesharing, effective today, will include, in a first phase, direct flights between Morocco and Israel operated by both companies.
Indeed, EL AL schedules regular flights between Tel Aviv and Marrakech with three rotations per week.
As for Royal Air Maroc, it has just inaugurated its new direct air route linking Casablanca to Tel Aviv at a rate of four frequencies initially, to quickly increase to five flights per week, the two companies said in a joint statement.
This agreement will offer customers of both companies, more options in terms of schedules and operability combinability between Marrakech, Casablanca and Tel Aviv and will link the networks of both companies with more fluid connections thanks to the possibility of check-in passengers and luggage from end to end.
The deal is just the first milestone in the cooperation of the two airlines, which have set themselves the goal of offering their customers a wider choice of destinations, more convenient connections beyond the hubs of both airlines and an optimized customer experience.
“We are very pleased to enter into this important partnership with EL AL which will contribute to the strengthening of our traffic, and will offer our passengers a connection to additional destinations as well as a better customer experience thanks to optimized connections and end-to-end check-in operations, with international assistance at airports in the networks operated by both airlines,” Abdelhamid Addou was quoted in the release as saying.
“We are pleased with this partnership between the two official flag bearers of the two countries in the field of air transport,” said the CEO of the Israeli company EL AL, adding that this collaboration, “is a great achievement made in a relatively short time since the conclusion of the Abraham agreements that have established official relations.”
For the Israelis, “this partnership will allow an additional and diversified travel offer to destinations in Morocco and Africa. Israelis appreciate Morocco as a tourist destination and we are convinced that Moroccans will also be attracted to Israel as an attractive tourist destination,” he added.
