The visa exemption between Morocco and Azerbaijan, which will come into force on 28 August 2024 (the 32nd
anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries), represents a major step forward in bilateral relations.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Morocco has announced the imminent entry into force of the visa waiver
agreement for holders of ordinary passports. This agreement, which marks a milestone in bilateral relations, will be officially implemented from Wednesday 28 August 2024.
From that date, Moroccan nationals will be able to travel to Azerbaijan without a visa for stays of up to 90 days, provided their passports are valid for at least 180 days from the date of entry.
Similarly, Azerbaijani nationals will enjoy the same visa-free privileges when visiting Morocco. This measure is seen as a potential catalyst for boosting tourism and trade between the two nations.
The announcement of this visa exemption coincides with a symbolic date: 28 August marks the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Azerbaijan, which date back to 28 August 1992. The implementation of this visa-free regime on this date bears witness to the mutual commitment of the two countries to deepening the fraternal ties that unite them.
The visa waiver agreement is the result of intensive diplomatic negotiations and reflects the desire of both governments to facilitate travel for their respective citizens. This initiative is part of a series of measures aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, including trade, tourism, culture and education.
The Moroccan and Azerbaijani authorities hope that this visa exemption will encourage a significant increase in the number of visitors between the two countries. Tourism exchanges should receive a further boost, with prospects for growth in the hotel, restaurant and related services sectors. In addition, business opportunities could multiply, offering companies in both countries new avenues for collaboration and investment.
