The partnership aims to address the growing challenges of water scarcity, climate change, and extreme weather events.
The MoU, which will run from 2025 to 2027, will involve the exchange of expertise, capacity building, and joint collaboration on water-related projects. The two countries will work together to develop water infrastructure, manage extreme weather events, improve water supply systems, and promote water conservation.
Key areas of focus include the construction and maintenance of water distribution systems, flood and drought management, rural water supply, efficient irrigation techniques, and sustainable water use in agriculture.
To facilitate knowledge sharing and cooperation, Morocco and China have agreed to hold three annual meetings of the China-Morocco Joint Committee on Water Resources starting in 2025. These meetings will provide opportunities for technical exchanges, site visits, and discussions on topics such as hydraulic engineering and river transport infrastructure.
