Morocco strongly condemned the targeting of civilians waiting to receive humanitarian aid in Gaza.
APA-Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) – Morocco condemned and strongly denounced the targeting by Israeli forces of Palestinian civilians waiting to receive humanitarian aid in Al-Rashid Street in the northern Gaza Strip, which resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said Sunday in Riyadh.
The kingdom, which expressed its “absolute rejection” of violations of international humanitarian law, called for “an independent and transparent investigation into this despicable act and the punishment of those responsible,” he said at a meeting with foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
On this occasion, the minister reiterated the urgent appeal of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to the international community to intervene urgently to achieve an immediate, lasting and comprehensive ceasefire, to ensure the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians and to guarantee the protection of the Palestinian people.
On Thursday, Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians waiting for trucks carrying humanitarian aid to arrive. The attack left 104 Palestinians dead and 760 injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Israel has been waging a deadly offensive against the Gaza Strip since 7 October, killing more than 30,000 people, mostly women and children, according to Palestinian and UN estimates.
