APA-Rabat (Morocco) On Thursday in Dakhla, Morocco and The Gambia signed several cooperation agreements covering various fields, on the sidelines of the work of the 3rd Session of the Joint Cooperation Commission.
The signing ceremony was co-chaired by the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and his Gambian counterpart, Mamadou Tangara.
The agreements signed between the two parties cover mutual assistance between the customs administrations of the two countries, maritime fishing, as well as international road transport of passengers and goods, and commercial cooperation.
In the field of tourism, the two parties signed a cooperation agreement on the promotion of cooperation between the two countries’ central tourism agencies, between their national tourism and transport establishments and between their tourism agencies and professional associations.
In the area of security, Raat and Banjul signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at establishing a legal framework for cooperation in the fields of security, law enforcement and policing, with a view to taking joint action against international terrorism and all forms of transnational crime, particularly trafficking in drugs and
humans.
With regard to vocational training, a framework cooperation agreement was signed, the aim of which is to set out the overall framework for cooperation and partnership between the parties in the field of vocational training, including the reservation of a quota of 90 teaching places for young trainees, spread over a period of 3 years, at a rate of 30 places per year, from the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.
The two parties also signed a framework cooperation agreement on academic scholarships, internships and the sharing of expertise. As a reminder, AMCI provides the Republic of the Gambia with an annual quota of 90 scholarships in the academic and technical fields.
They also signed a cultural cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening and promoting mutual cooperation in the cultural field, notably through the exchange of experts and expertise, the organisation of cultural weeks and participation in the International Book Fair.
In the field of sports, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation and exchanges on the basis of reciprocity and mutual interest, through the exchange of experience, information, documentation, technical skills and knowledge for the development of sport.
In addition, an action plan between the ministries of justice of the two countries for the years 2024-2025 was signed on this occasion with the aim of encouraging the mutual exchange of know-how and the sharing
of best practices.
