This comprehensive survey aims to gather vital data on the Moroccan population, informing future public policies and development initiatives.
The census, a major undertaking with a budget of 1.46 billion dirhams (€135.68 million), will involve 50,000 trained personnel. The operation, led by the High Commission for Planning (HCP), seeks to provide a detailed understanding of the Moroccan population’s demographics, needs, and living conditions.
Key objectives include collecting accurate data on age, gender, education levels, and household composition, assessing living standards, employment rates, and access to essential services like healthcare, education, and housing, mapping population density and urban-rural disparities, and informing the development of targeted policies in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare.
For the first time, this census will include migrants and foreign residents, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity. The survey will cover all regions of the country, including urban centers, rural areas, industrial zones, and institutions like hospitals and prisons.
The HCP has emphasized that the census will not collect sensitive personal information such as salaries, bank details, or religious beliefs. The collected data will be used solely for statistical purposes and will be kept confidential.
The results of the census are expected to provide valuable insights for policymakers and researchers. By identifying the specific needs and challenges of the Moroccan population, the government can allocate resources more effectively and implement targeted programs to improve the quality of life for all citizens.
