The 49th FANAF General Assembly, held in Marrakech from February 22 to 26, highlighted Morocco’s key role in the development of the insurance sector in Africa.
FANAF President Cesar Ekomie-Afene highlighted the impact of Moroccan players on the growth of the sector, citing their expertise in insurance, reinsurance and finance.
The Moroccan Insurance Federation (FMA) played a key role in organising this edition, confirming Morocco’s position as a regional insurance hub.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, highlighted Morocco’s strategy, focused on innovation, digitalisation and financial inclusion, with notable advances in Takaful insurance, microinsurance and the extension of mandatory coverage.
The Insurance and Social Security Supervisory Authority (ACAPS) stressed the importance of appropriate regulation to support the evolution of the African market.
Innovation played a central role, with initiatives such as the digitalisation of insurance certificates, the integration of mobile money and the modernization of brokerage services.
The discussions resulted in several recommendations, including strengthening cooperation between African markets, accelerating digitalisation and adapting to climate risks.
With a record participation of 1,500 professionals, this edition confirms Morocco’s place as a driver of insurance development in Africa.
