Morocco has decided to recall its ambassador to Berlin for consultations, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the recall was provoked by Germany’s hostile acts and attacks on the kingdom’s higher interests.
According to the statement, Germany has distinguished itself by a negative attitude on the Sahara issue.
Its antagonistic activism, following the US Presidential Proclamation recognising Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara, is a serious act that remains unexplained until now.
Similarly, the authorities in Germany act with complicity towards a former convict of terrorist acts, notably by disclosing to him sensitive information communicated by the Moroccan security services to their German counterparts, the ministry claimed.
In addition to this, there is a continued determination to combat the regional role of Morocco, especially on the Libyan issue, by trying to remove the kingdom unduly from certain regional meetings devoted to this issue such as the one held in Berlin, the same source added.
“For all these reasons and because of this constant and unacceptable adversity, the Kingdom of Morocco has decided to recall, for consultations, the Ambassador of His Majesty the King in Berlin,” the statement said.
