Mozambique’s Supreme Court has ordered the extradition of a Pakistani national, Tanveer Ahmed, to the United States where he faces drug trafficking charges.
Ahmed was arrested in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province in January last year following an international warrant of arrest.
The Pakistani national was residing in Mozambique at the time of his arrest.
The decision to extradite him was taken on Wednesday by the Mozambican Supreme Court.
According to local media reports, Ahmed faces between five and 40 years in jail if convicted in the US.
