A media statement seen by APA Tuesday said the campaign covers all Mozambican citizens of both sexes, born in 2001, as well as those who have not been able to do so before they have reached the age of 35.
“The military conscription will take place in the district administrations, municipal councils, administrative posts and educational establishments and in the diplomatic and consular missions of Mozambique of the area of residence for Mozambican citizens residing abroad”.
The defence ministry said the target is a mere 30 per cent of 18 year olds against 214,000 people who were pre-registered last year.
In order to register, citizens must show their identity card, a document proving their academic qualifications (if any), and a residence declaration issued by the local administrative structures.
