Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi made the announcement on Saturday, the second day of a three-day state visit to eSwatini.
“We are aware that one of the goals of eSwatini’s Vision 2022 is to provide electricity to all its people. We are willing to contribute to the achievement of this goal,” he said.
eSwatini currently import about 10 percent of its electricity needs from Mozambique and another 80 percent from South Africa.
Nyusi said Mozambique was exploring ways to increase the current level of power supply to its neighbour as his county was also making plans to increase its power production capability.
The president’s three-day visit is expected to end on Sunday, with Nyusi meeting Mozambicans living in eSwatini and watching a soccer game at Somhlolo National Stadium.
