Namibia has qualified for the finals of the 2023 Rugby World Cup following a 36-0 drubbing of Kenya in a Africa Rugby Cup qualifier played on Sunday in France.
The Namibians, affectionately known as The Welwitschias by their legions of fans, proved too strong for the East Africans to secure a berth at the global tournament set for France in September 2023.
The victory – which ensured a seventh consecutive Rugby World Cup flirtation for the southern Africans – was courtesy of a hat-trick by United States-based Flank Wian Conradie.
The Namibians would face host France, Italy, New Zealand and Uruguay in Pool A of the Rugby World Cup.
As runners-up, Kenya still has a chance to qualify for the Rugby World Cup 2023 as they are now expected to take part in the final qualification tournament in November.
