Namibia made a perfect start to the T20 Cricket World Cup on Sunday by stunning Sri Lanka by 55 runs in the opening match of the qualifying round stage in Geelong, Australia.
The southwest African side overcame a shaky start to register 163 for seven wickets, which proved too much for the Asia Cup champions who were all out for 108 in reply.
Namibia’s Jan Frylinck was voted player of the match after top-scoring with 44 runs and snatching two Sri Lankan wickets off 22 balls.
The Namibians face the Netherlands in their next match on Tuesday while Sri Lanka will be hoping for better fortunes when they play against the United Arab Emirates on the same day. Both matches are in Geelong.
