Speaking ahead of the opening of parliament in Windhoek, Katjavivi said as part of the National Assembly’s e-governance and e-parliament policies lawmakers would be required to use technological devices such as laptops and tablets during sessions.
Katjavivi revealed that part of the gadgets to be used by members of parliament were donated in 2018 by Chinese technology giant Huawei.
The Chinese firm donated 157 tablets worth more than N$700,000 (about US$51,000).
Namibia’s parliamentary session is expected to be officially opened on Wednesday.
