Namibia’s President Hage Geingob is next week expected to take his diplomatic offensive to Jamaica when he embarks on five-day state visit to the Caribbean island, according to reports monitored here on Wednesday.
Quoting a statement from the office of Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, the reports said Geingob and his wife Monica Geingos are expected to be in Jamaica from August 4-8 during which they will be special guests during Jamaica’s 60th independence celebrations on August 6.
The Namibian leader is also expected to address a special sitting of the Jamaican parliament to mark the island’s 60th anniversary of Independence.
He will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and other Jamaican government official and is expected to pay a courtesy call on the Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen, the reports said.
Other items on the itinerary include attendance at the Jamaica 60 Independence Grand Gala and laying a wreath at the shrine of Jamaica’s first national hero, Marcus Garvey.
