A nationwide power outage in Tanzania has on Wednesday paralysed trains of the standard railway gauge (SRG), leaving thousands of commuters stranded for over one hour.
In a statement the Tanzania Electric Supply Company said the cause of the cut which had affected power supplies countrywide is being investigated.
Tanesco said the fault is still not known but its technicians have been deployed to the sites to investigate.
The Tanzania Railway Cooperation said the disruption to trains had affected services linking Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and the capital Dodoma.
Those who were traveling between these cities had experienced disruptions at 10 am on Wednesday.
It resumed later on after over an hour.
