The topic was discussed during the meeting between Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno and the head of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC), Gil berto Da Piedade Verissimo.
The establishment of a joint Chad-CAR force along the common border, with the backing of the community institution, was a decision taken at the 6th Extraordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of CEEAC held in Malabo and devoted to the humanitarian
situation in Central Africa.
The need to guarantee cross-border security has emerged as a priority for regional leaders, particularly due to recurring tensions and security challenges affecting local populations.
During the audience between President, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno and the head of the CEEAC Commission, Gilberto Da Piedade Verissimo, the modalities of the operationalization of this force were at the center of the talks.
At the end of the talks, the Chadian leader gave the nod for the deployment of a joint Chad-CAR force, in accordance with the latest Declaration of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of CEEAC, according to the website of the Chadian Presidency.
