Ugandan President has received the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Entebbe, Ambassador Joseph Rutabana amid diplomatic row between the two neighboring countries, local media reported Friday in Kigali quoting the official source in Kampala.
The president of Uganda and the new Rwandan ambassador, who met at the Presidential Palace in Entebbe, Central Uganda, also posed for a photograph.
In February 2019, Rwanda partially closed its common border with Uganda, and issued a travel advisory to its citizens against travelling to Uganda.
The standoff escalated dramatically in March when Rwanda publicly accused Uganda of abducting its citizens and supporting rebels bent on overthrowing the government.
The political tensions have hardly been addressed during several regional meetings, raising concerns about the ability of regional and bilateral mechanisms to resolve emerging security challenges in the region.
Rwanda says that its complaints against Uganda have been presented directly by President Kagame to President Museveni at two previous meetings.
The East African Community has maintained its silence on the matter.
