The former president of Niger (2011-2021) has received a final tribute from the staff of the presidential palace.
Pay honour to whom honour is due. Mahamadou Issoufou leaves office with a sense of duty done. A farewell ceremony held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, allowed all the staff of the Presidency of the Republic to show their “infinite gratitude” and “immense recognition” to the predecessor of Mohamed Bazoum.
According to Foumakoye Gado, Minister of State, “beyond the people of Niger, it is the whole world that honours you today through the many awards you have received, including the Mo Ibrahim Prize.”
In addition, Mr. Gado, who is also Acting Chief of Staff of the Presidency, praised your “intrinsic qualities as a statesman,” notably your “attachment to the values of work and merit and your high sense of public interest.”
Concluding his speech, he said that this is the end of “ten exciting years together in the service of the Nigerien people.” For his part, Mahamadou Issoufou stressed that all the staff of the Presidency can “be proud of the work done (and) the results obtained.”
Finally, the former President was pleased with his collaboration with the “deputy directors of cabinet, the Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary General of the Presidency, advisors with ministerial rank, heads of attached services, special and technical advisors, directors, heads of service and agents.”
