According to a statement issued by the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the closure will last until Sunday.
The government said there will be restriction of movements across the Nigerian borders during the election on the days announced.
“The public is to take note and ensure compliance,’’ a statement released on Thursday said.
Some 84, 004.084 million people have been registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across Nigeria to participate in Saturday’s exercise.
Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress faces former vice preident Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the presidency.
Saturday’s exercise will include elections for the 360-member House of Representatives and the 109-member senate for a four-year term that will run concurrently with that of the elected president.
It will be Nigeria’s sixth quadrennial elections since the country’s return to democractic governance in 1999.
