Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday defeated the Falcons of Sudan 3-1 in the second match of Group D in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
The match played at the at Stade Roumdé Adjia in Garoua, Cameroon saw the Super Eagles take an early lead in the 3rd minute through Samuel Chukwueze.
The Nigerian team dominated the game and the second goal for the Super Eagles came in the 45th minute of the match through Taiwo Awoniyi to bring the score line at the end of the first half to 2-0 in favour of the Super Eagles.
The second half of the match started with a quick goal from Moses Simon in the 46th minute.
The lone goal for the Falcons came in the 70th minute through W. Safour, who converted the penalty awarded to the Sudanese team after a Nigerian player, Ola Aina, fouled a Sudanese player within the 18-yard area.
With this score line, the Super Eagles have 6 points from two matches, while Sudan and Guinea Bissau have one point each and Egypt, which lost 0-1 to Nigeria in the first match, have no point.
Egypt will be playing Guinea Bissau on Saturday for their second match in Group D.
With 6 points and one outstanding match against Guinea Bissau in the group, the Super Eagles are assured of a place in the knockout stage of the tournament.
