According to the report, the power generating companies could only supply 4,114mw to the national grid on Monday, down by 92.47mw from what was supplied on Sunday.
Local media reports on Wednesday said that 2,793.58mw could not be generated due to unavailability of gas, while unavailability of transmission infrastructure accounted for non-generation of 176mw during the period.
It added that 168.6mw was not generated due to high frequency resulting from the unavailability of distribution infrastructure.
It explained that the power sector may have lost about N1.51bn on Monday to insufficient gas supply, distribution infrastructure and transmission infrastructure.
Nigeria generates most of its electricity from gas-fired power plants, while hydropower plants account for 30 percent of the total power generation.
However, the Nigerian Electricity System Operator puts the country’s installed generation capacity at 12,910.40mw; while available capacity is 7,652.60mw and transmission wheeling capacity is 8,100mw.
