Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolence to the People of Namibia as they mourn the passing of President Hage Geingob.
The Namibian President Hage Geingob died at Lady Pohamba Hospital on Sunday, February 4, 2024, with his wife and children by his side a few days after his return from the US to Namibia to continue his treatment for cancerous cells.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Abuja, President Tinubu said: “I mourn the painful loss of a veteran in the struggle for democracy, a proponent of good governance and an advocate for economic, social, and political solidarity among African peoples.”
The Nigerian President acknowledged that the tragedy comes at a time when Africa is in dire need of more visionary leaders
“This tragedy comes at a time when Africa is in dire need of more visionary leaders who believe in our common destiny and who can strengthen the bonds across our borders and spread the tendrils of cooperation in all fields of human endeavor,” he said.
He assures Namibians that his thoughts and prayers and those of all Nigerians are with them.
