Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, is scheduled to receive a ‘Special Recognition Award’ in the Republic of the Maldives.
A statement released by Mr. Tony Nezianya, Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, on Friday in Abuja, said the award was in recognition of his contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria and the African region.
It added that the Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, of the Republic of Maldives, Mr. Ahmed Mahloof, said in a statement that the award was being conferred on the Nigerian Minister, not only for his contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria but to the African region as a whole.
”You have carried out the development of sports in your country and African region, we will be conferring the ‘Special Recognition Award’ on your Excellency,” he said.
According the statement, the conferment ceremony will be held in the Republic of Maldives on March 16, 2023.
Speaking on the award, the NOC President, Mr. Habu Gumel, stated that the minister has accomplished a lot to support the growth and development of the youth and deserved recognition.
“The event will be attended by the Maldivian President, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the world’s renowned athletes as well as Maldivian athletes.
The Maldives is an Indian Ocean country nestled in the South West of Sri Lanka and India.
