The Norwegian government has released $1.2million as its contribution to Malawi towards the country’s response on COVID-19.
A statement released in the capital Lilongwe on Thursday, Nowergian embassy said the funds will be used to procure urgent needed items including personnel protective equipment for health workers.
“Health sector is one of our priorities in our cooperation. It is important to continue our cooperation and support to the primary health of Malawi,” it said.
International cooperation is vital in order to fight the spread of COVID-19, it said.
Norway has come as one of the International community to respond to Malawi’s call for funding to support the contingency plan on coronavirus pegged at $20million.
