The memorandum of understanding was on Sunday signed by the Mauritanian Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Nany Ould Chrougha and his Angolan counterpart, Maria Antonieta Baptista, who is visiting Mauritania to learn about its fishing experience.
The situation of the sector in both countries is almost similar, she said, expressing her country’s wish to take full advantage of Nouakchott’s know-how in the field.
In addition, the Angolan Minister of Fisheries and the Sea said she received clear instructions from President João Lourenço to actively work to develop cooperation links with Mauritania.
In the same vein, his Mauritanian counterpart emphasised that the presidential instructions on his government consisted of facilitating all formalities to advance and broaden the areas of cooperation with Angola, with the main aim of intensifying South-South cooperation.
Angola is home to a large Mauritanian community working mainly in the field of trade.
