Africa must first rely on its own resources to ensure its security, according to Senegalese President Macky Sall.

Faced with Jihadism and insecurity that plagues Africa, the answers must first be endogenous. For this, “it is urgent to make operational the African Standby Force and to finance more adequately the African Union Peace Fund,” said the Senegalese head of state, Macky Sall, also current chairman of the African Union on Monday.
Sall believes that Africa cannot always rely on external funding to ensure its security and build an architecture of peace.
That is why “we must first make internal efforts before asking for help from others,” he said, convinced that Africa still has some capacity to mobilise a minimum of resources to finance peace on the continent.
President Sall presided over the opening of the 8th edition of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security whose theme is: “Africa in the face of exogenous shocks: challenges of stability and sovereignty.”
