APA-Rabat (Morocco) France and Morocco join forces for quality education accessible to all.
Agence Française de Developpement (AFD) has granted Morocco a €130 million loan to support the 2022-2026 reform of the national education system. This financial support is part of a strong partnership between the two countries and aims to improve access to quality education for all.
As part of this commitment, two agreements were signed on Monday between AFD and the Moroccan Ministry of the Economy and Finance. The agreements include a €130 million loan and a €4.7 million grant to provide technical support for the programme to support the national education system reform roadmap for the mentioned period.
The programme funded by AFD aims to improve the quality of learning, in particular by improving the teaching of French at secondary school level, and to reduce the dropout rate, particularly in rural areas, through the deployment of the pioneer colleges model and the improvement of social support services.
The aim is also to reduce educational disparities and guarantee equal opportunities for all pupils.
According to the roadmap of the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, this programme, implemented by the Regional Education and Training Agencies (AREF), will reduce disparities in education. The main objective is to reduce the school drop-out rate by 30 percent, while paying particular attention to the most disadvantaged areas.
