A total of 410 MPs out of 412 present during Monday’s session in parliament in Kinshasa approved the government of the Sacred Union formed on 12 April.
From now on, the 56-minister cabinet led by Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde can get to work to achieve the objectives assigned by President Felix Tshisekedi.
They are essentially about “improvement of the living conditions of the Congolese and establishment of a climate of peace throughout the country.”
Before the vote, Mr. Lukonde presented his three-year action programme estimated at $36 billion.
The new government, whose average age is 47, includes “80 percent new faces” and “27 percent women.”
