The strike action has since come to an end after workers at Kenya’s main airport reached an agreement with the authorities following four rounds of negotiations on issues such as fatigued pilots, flight safety and bonuses.
RwandAir issued a statement earlier saying that due to the ongoing strike, flight WB452 from Kigali to Nairobi and onward to Entebbe (Uganda) and return flight WB453 have been cancelled.
“All affected passengers travelling on Kigali – Entebbe – Kigali route will be rebooked on WB434 and WB435 respectively” the airline said in a statement.
Reports said that Jomo Kenyatta Airport workers Union has previously agreed to suspend the strike for a year after negotiating with the relevant authority.
It said that the union decided to re-launch the strike Wednesday after the airline allegedly ignored the its request concerning bonuses.
