The restrictive policy of the military junta in power in Guinea since September 2021 continues.
Following a decision taken on Monday October 23 by Prime Minister Bernard Goumou, the Secretary General of the Government has been instructed to recover the travel documents (diplomatic and service passports) of Guinean civil servants and senior government officials.
According to a statement seen by APA, the aim of this measure is to improve administrative formalities for business travel.
It is also a way for junta head, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, to put an end to sojourns that he considers very costly for the Guinean taxpayer.
This decision also comes at a time when the Special Prosecutor’s Office of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Crimes (CRIEF) has requested that 34 officials from several of the country’s ministries be banned from leaving the country.
“In close collaboration with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Guineans Abroad, the Secretary General of the Government will have to make proposals for the rapid reorganisation of the administrative circuit for the granting of mission orders, visa formalities and airport departure and arrival formalities,” said Mr Goumou.
He stressed that “the reconstruction of the country requires a continuous improvement in the quality of public services.”
